On most the new apple computers what ram it comes with is what you’re stuck with so you might want to look into that (the 27" you can install it yourself $160 for 32 gb) You might look on the apple website for a refurbished model of what you want they have the same warranty as a new mac. If you want to do music recording 16GB or more of ram is the best so most apple stuff is based on 8GB ram Apple charges 3 times for ram than you buy it yourself. Big question to ask yourself what will the cost be for the mini and then a monitor verses buying an iMac. I use mine for recording great fit for Logic pro. I never had the Mini but the operating systems are OS Version yada yada. I just got a brand new 2019 27" two weeks ago my 2011 gave out. They are pretty good for advice and custom builds If you don't like ProTools or their subscription plans ( not bad) there is Harrison Mixbus. $25 HD monitor from the second hand store, and an external terabyte drive, and I'm in business. Used my Wife's Teaching ID to get a 50% educational discount on ProTools ( perpetual license). Then I shopped eBay for just the right machine.
It started because WAVES had good sales ( still are). īetween getting the old HD out of there for airflow, and the boost from the SSD it all came into focus in a very nice way for reasonable money. I did have to take it apart and swap out the 5400rpm HD for a 500Gb SSD. It has Thunderbolt, USB3 and Firewire and a card slot.Removable replaceable memory.

I am now running the next to latest software OS, Mojave 10.14.6, and the latest ProTools 2019. ( Because I am tired of buying and killing old G4's)
